The School of Divinity is delighted to welcome new and returning students to the Bible and Contemporary World programme. This year, students will gather in St Andrews from 31 August to 4 September for the Bible and Contemporary World Postgraduate Conference, followed by orientation and community-building activities. While attendance is not mandatory, the week provides a valuable opportunity for students to meet one another, engage with current research, and become part of the B&CW community.
Most new students will begin DI5915 – Bible and Contemporary Issues (30 credits), taught by a team of scholars including Dr Caleb Froehlich, Dr Doren Snoek, Dr Madhavi Nevader, Dr Michael Lysons, and Dr T. J. Lang. Alongside this, students will also undertake DI5911 – Research in Divinity (15 credits), taught by Dr Caleb Froehlich and PhD Candidate Blythe Kingcroft, which equips students with the research skills needed for postgraduate study.
Students beginning the dissertation stage of the programme will also take part in dissertation workshops and research sessions following the conference, providing an opportunity to develop their projects in conversation with staff and fellow students. The School of Divinity looks forward to welcoming all new and returning students to St Andrews for what promises to be an engaging and enriching start to the academic year.
